In September 2020, Carolyn Hoskinson joined EPA’s Office of Resource Conservation and Recovery (ORCR) as the Director. ORCR promotes the conservation of resources, ensuring the proper management of waste, preventing harmful exposures, and overseeing the cleanup of land for productive use. ORCR’s portfolio includes: reducing waste, recycling, beneficial reuse of wastes, proper municipal solid waste and hazardous management and disposal, hazardous waste cleanup, international waste import and export, and global issues such as marine litter and plastics.

Carolyn has over 30 years of experience in EPA programs. Immediately prior to coming to ORCR, Carolyn was the Director of EPA’s Office of Underground Storage Tanks (OUST) for 11 years, and before that she served in several other positions at EPA. She has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communications, Law, Economics and Government from The American University in Washington, DC.

Carolyn grew up in the suburbs of New Haven, Connecticut and still returns home to visit family, and to enjoy her favorite New Haven-style pizza and birch beer. Carolyn is married to her high school sweetheart, Jim, and they live in Silver Spring, Maryland, with their two adult kids.
